
IN-PERSON TAX PREPARATION
Thanks to our partnership with the IRS, each year Goodwill Industries of East Texas assists low-income families with free tax preparation through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Despite COVID-19 restrictions, these necessary services will still be provided in person.

- SERVICE WILL BE PROVIDED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
- If you are experiencing any of these symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell, chills, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, please DO NOT come to the site.
- If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or flu within 14 days, please DO NOT come to the site.
- Your temperature will be taken at the site. If you have a fever, access will be denied.
- Wearing a mask properly will be required at all times, inside and outside the building.
- Minors or companions who do not have to file a tax return will not be allowed in the building.
- You must have a working phone with you.
- Be sure to bring all required documents to your appointment.
- Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment.
- Please note that if you are over 15 minutes late for your appointment, the appointment will be canceled and you will have to reschedule.
- Copy of Social Security Cards for all individuals on the tax return
- Copy of a Photo ID of the taxpayer(s)
- All income documents (W-2, 1099, etc.)
- Form 1098T (if claiming college expenses)
- Total paid to daycare provider and daycare provider’s tax identifying number (such as their Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number)
- Forms 1095-A, B, or C (for Health Insurance)
- Business expenses (if applicable)
- Receipts from charitable donations (if applicable)
- Bank routing number and account number (if you would like to receive a direct deposit)

For those unable to attend one of our in-person appointments, we offer a drop-off service for tax preparation.

- Ask any questions or notify you if additional information is needed.
- Set an appointment to sign and pick up your tax return.
ALL COMPLETED FORMS AND TAX DOCUMENTS MUST BE DROPPED OFF BY APRIL 10TH.

This service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Each one of these forms has to be signed by all taxpayers and dropped off with your documents, for your return to be prepared.

- Virtual VITA/TCE Taxpayer Consent (Form 14446) – Only return Page 3. Keep Pages 1 and 2 for your records.
You can print all required forms from here. If you do not have access to a printer, these forms can be picked up at any of our locations listed above.

To prepare your income tax return, we are required to obtain your supporting documents. Below you will find a list of what we will need depending on your situation. Be sure that when you drop off these documents (along with the required consent forms listed above) that you provide us with a working phone number, in case we have any questions.
