Misty Davis is the Finance Director for Goodwill Industries of East Texas, and brings to the table over twenty-four years of experience in Accounting.

Misty started her career in 1996 with an Associate of Science Degree from Jacksonville College.  Her first accounting job was at Southern Multifoods, a Taco Bell franchisee, in Jacksonville, Texas.  She quickly promoted from an Accounting Clerk to Staff Accountant.

In 2001, Misty married and moved to Tyler, Texas.  Here, she found a rewarding job at Azleway Boys Ranch.  Starting through a temporary agency, she worked her way up to the Director of Finance and Information Technology (IT) at Azleway Charter School.  During her six-year tenure at Azleway, Misty was able to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, while also juggling life as a mom of a toddler and a newborn.

Eventually, Misty was able to gain experience in for-profit manufacturing accounting at a publicly traded company, American Railcar Industries in Longview, Texas.  After four years at ARI, an opportunity presented itself at Goodwill Industries of East Texas.  Misty started her career at GIET as a Staff Accountant, and was promoted to Accounting Supervisor during her first year on staff.  At the end of her second year at Goodwill, a Controller position became available at Door Controls, Inc. in Ben Wheeler, Texas, which she took.  It didn’t take long for Misty to decide that she missed working for a company whose mission it was to provide job opportunities and training for people with barriers to employment.  When the Finance Director position became available in 2016, Misty was excited to come back to GIET.  In 2018, Misty received the Advanced Non Profit Management Certificate through the East Texas Center for Nonprofits.

As Finance Director, Misty doesn’t get hands-on experience fulfilling the mission of Goodwill on a daily basis.  During tax season, however, she enjoys the opportunity to serve the community through the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program, where she and a team of GIET employees are able to provide free tax preparation services to the community.

She is married to John, and they have three daughters who keep them busy with various activities and too many pets to count!
